Serving in the role of Training Coordinator / Parish Systems Administrator for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Susan is part of a dedicated Parish Support team that functions within the Finance Department at the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese of Atlanta encompasses more than 110 parishes and missions in the northern half of the state of Georgia and serves more than 1 million registered Catholic households. Atlanta is a high-growth area that is home to large, multi-cultural parishes and several dedicated culture-specific parishes serving the Latino, Polish, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese Catholics in the area. Susan came to her current role 2 1/2 years ago after working for 9+ years in the parish arena. Her professional background includes technical expertise in web development, technical documentation and communications. Her educational background in Landscape Architecture (University of Georgia) adds a further creative element to her training. She draws much of her training content from day-to-day Catholic learning with her children and grandchildren – creating an acute awareness of the need to educate the entire family. Susan has a unique perspective on Religious Education staff (in short supply at most parishes) and believes that ALL parish staff - from receptionist, to maintenance, to clergy – are truly integral parts of the Religious Education Department. Using technology, and the features of ConnectNOW Family Suite, makes it easier to keep all parish staff informed and connected. The Archdiocese of Atlanta is in the midst of an upgrade from ParishSOFT Desktop (running on Remote Solutions) to ConnectNOW Family Suite. With more than 1000 staff and volunteers to train, the upgrade and training, which began in February 2017, should continue through mid-2018.
