Marcus Madsen
Archdiocese of Baltimore Technology Director
Baltimore MD
For the past 5 1/2 years, I have been serving the Archdiocese of Baltimore as the Technology Director. In total, I have 25 years of experience in the technology field. 10 years was spent at GE Aviation as the Lead Unix Systems Engineer followed by another 10 years as the technology director for an independent dining service company. With each different industry and sector, there were challenges and opportunities but none seemed as important as those that I face today throughout the Archdiocese. Serving a non-profit organization with the purpose of bringing people and souls closer to Christ with limited funds and human resources is a monumental challenge when trying to keep up with the everchanging landscape of technology. We are close to concluding a major implementation of Ministry Platform across all 135 parishes which will consolidate all records into a single CRM for better measurement of engagement and streamlining of processes across the board in regards to church operations. Other projects include a document management system to better digitize and document standard workflows to alleviate resources from time consuming tasks as well as a Microsoft transition from hybrid environment to almost completely cloud based. Fortunately, with the support of my fellow DISC colleagues, I do not head into these challenges alone.
